Cheri Kester-Payne McMinn

Kester, Cheryl Sue, 56, of Pompano Beach, FL., went home to her father and savior October 31, 2009. Cherie was born to Stewart and Fay Kester on February 7, 1953 in Bronxville, NY. She moved to Pompano Beach with her parents in 1955. She was a graduate of Pompano Beach High School in 1971 and attended the University of South Florida where she studied art. Birds and all wildlife were her passion. She was a volunteer at the Wild Bird Care Center for many years and currently was the owner and manager of Pet Haven grooming salon in Lighthouse Point. Central to her life was her faith in Christ, family, friends, dogs and her love of the arts. Cherie found tranquility in her butterfly garden and joy raising her beloved Belgian Tervurens Ferrari, Catan and especially Alf. Her granddaughter, Maddie, was her piece of heaven God blessed her with on this earth. Cherie was predeceased by her father, Stewart R. Kester. She is survived by her son, Dean Payne; mother, Fay Kester; brother, Randy Kester (Kim); sisters, Marcia Doyle (Mac), Valerie Cox (Allen); grandchild, Madison Payne; and numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved dogs. A memorial service and reception will be held Tuesday evening November 10, 6 p.m., at Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale, 2101 W. Cypress Creek Rd., in the south chapel.
